Miradas a Chile begins with a reflection on the narratives that shape our understanding of territory and nation. Chile is not merely a geographical space but also a web of memories, images, experiences, and imaginaries constructed both collectively and individually.

Drawing on Hans-Christoph Koller’s perspective on transformative educational processes, experiences of crisis can open moments of change in which people reconsider their points of reference, their position in the world, and the ways in which they narrate themselves. From this perspective, migration can be understood as an experience that entails not only a physical but also a symbolic displacement: it transforms relationships, memories, and imaginaries—and, with them, the position from which we look.

Seeing is never a neutral act. We always see from a particular place, shaped by experiences, memories, bodies, and history. For people with migration experiences, looking at their place of origin from a distance also means reconstructing it. What was once familiar and everyday can acquire new meanings when it is remembered, imagined, or represented from within a different context.

Miradas a Chile does not seek to construct a unified image of Chile, but rather to bring together fragments of different perspectives that contribute to the construction of its imaginaries. The works gathered here explore the relationships between territory, memory, identity, and representation, asking not only what we see when we look at Chile, but also from where we look at it.

In this context, art emerges as a space in which we can observe, question, and transform the images through which we understand and represent the world and ourselves.

RE:CULTURE is situated at the intersection of religious practice, historical memory and visions of the future. The exhibition encourages critical reflection on the significance of participation in contexts where women have historically and structurally been denied the capacity to act, the power to act and a voice within the prevailing religious and cultural narratives.

In this sense, RE:CULTURE does not seek definitive answers, but aims to initiate a process of listening, reparation and reinterpretation, in which the past is critically examined, and the future is envisaged through alternative possibilities of relationship, faith and community.

Since ancient times, societies have established rules—unspoken or explicit structures that govern behavior, define roles, and dictate who belongs and who must adapt. Within this framework, women and gender-dissident bodies have been especially targeted for control, confined by rigid gender norms that regulate their existence and serve as tools of patriarchy to restrict their freedoms.

The title of the exhibition "La Regla: Perspectivas feministas para hechos institucionales" ("The Rule: Feminist Perspectives on Institutional Facts") is a deliberate choice that combines wordplay with a feminist critique of power structures. It refers both to the norms (rules) imposed by institutions and to menstruation (in Spanish, "la regla" is a colloquial term for menstruation). The latter serves as a gesture reclaiming the female body in spaces traditionally dominated by male perspectives. "La Regla" also alludes to the ruler (as in a measuring tool), suggesting that the exhibition proposes new ways of evaluating institutional frameworks through a feminist lens.

The term "hechos institucionales" ("institutional facts") refers to events, laws, or normalized practices that have excluded or marginalized women and dissident identities.

ARCHIVOS DEL AGUA / WASSERARCHIVE is a multidisciplinary group exhibition that approaches water from a cultural studies, feminist, and decolonial perspective, understanding it as a space and body of knowledge, information, and memory. Water is more than a resource; it is a network that creates and contains relationships extending far beyond its visible surface.

The works presented in ARCHIVOS DE AGUA explore water and its sociocultural, historical, and ecological significance, examining relationships that range from the microscopic to the planetary, as well as across other levels of analysis, including the sonic realm.

ARCHIVOS DE AGUA invites us to pause, observe, and feel in order to recognize both the notions that are present and those that remain absent. It is a reflection that encourages us to question and reshape our relationship with water, and to recognize it as an essential element in the shaping of our lives, our identities, our histories, and our shared future.
